DOUBLE (cleanse), DOUBLE (cleanse) TOIL + TROUBLE

And just like that Fall is here!  The air is getting cooler which means our skin will become even more needier.

Our skin can feel a bit oily during the warm, muggy summer months but then feel brittle and dry during the colder months and what worked for you in June may not work for you in October.

Double cleansing may sound redundant because overwashing can typically cause exactly what we want to avoid in the colder months, dry skin. So what exactly is double cleansing and how can it be beneficial to you in the cooler months?

During the winter we naturally tend to swap out our light moisturizers and no makeup makeup looks for heavier products and looks. So once the winter presents the perfect opportunity to explore the benefits of double cleansing. Double cleansing is ingeniously engineered to do more than just cleanse; it's a two-step process designed to eliminate perspiration, bacteria, and dead skin cells, providing both cleansing and exfoliating benefits.

Double cleansing may be a two-step technique that only adds a few minutes to your usual regimen, but as with most things in skin care, it’s not a one-routine-fits-all. Considering every skin type and taking into account your specific skin concerns, choosing the right double-cleansing duo is key in making sure you get the most out of your routine.

OILY SKIN

Applying more oil to your face when you're already contending with excessive shine might seem like a recipe for disaster, but in reality, an oil-based cleanser can be a valuable ally in purging your skin of impurities and excess sebum. Oil attracts oil so this will help to remove makeup, sweat, and any other oil that has accumulated on your skin

DRY SKIN

You run a higher risk of over-washing when you have dry skin, so doubling up on your cleansing routine can sometimes do more harm than good if you’re using products that are not formulated for your skin type. People with dry skin should use cleansing balms—infused with oils—to boost hydration and help restore your skin’s lipid barrier.

NORMAL or COMBINATION SKIN

Managing combination skin, where some areas are excessively oily while others are quite dry, can be a bit of a puzzle. Therefore, it's crucial to seek out products that can effectively restore equilibrium while enhancing overall skin texture and complexion. Your top choice should be nutrient-rich, oil-based cleansers containing ceramides. These products have the capacity to both hydrate and rejuvenate your skin, making them equally beneficial for individuals with normal skin.
